21st Century Community learning centers @ Everitt and jinks
In partnership with Gulf Coast State College, the LEAD Coalition operates after school programs at Everitt and Jinks Middle Schools in Panama City, Florida, through a 21st Century Community Learning Centers Florida Department of Education grant, after-school and summer programming is offered to Everitt and Jinks students free of charge from Monday through Thursday during the school year and for six weeks during the summer. The programs provide various academic, artistic, and cultural enrichment opportunities to children who attend high poverty schools. The programs also involve families and other members of the greater community in the educational process.
The Summer Program hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Breakfast is provided in the morning, Lunch is offered at midday, and students get a snack is provided in the evening. Students may be transported home by bus.
Jinks and Everitt middle school students will venture into the world of Wakunda, the fictional home country of the Black Panther, to learn about the science and technology featured in the Black Panther comic/movie. The program is offered at no cost to Everitt and Jinks students. Regular attendance is required for the six-week program.
